Each year the Eastside Business Awards recognises and celebrates businesses in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters, giving customers, business owners and employees the chance to nominate and vote for their favourite business across 11 categories.

Simply for voting in the 2024 Eastside Business Awards you will be in the running to win a $350 voucher to a business of your choice within the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.

Program Overview

The Eastside Business Awards is an annual program that recognises and celebrates exceptional and outstanding businesses located in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters. This year, we want to uncover even more shops, boutiques, restaurants, cafes, services and other great businesses within the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters that have helped create memorable and remarkable experiences. Whether you’re a resident, employee, shopper, trader or visitor we encourage you to keep an eye out for local businesses you think deserve to be recognised and celebrated in 2024.

Key Dates
  • Voting is open from 7.00am on Thursday 15 February 2024 until 5.00pm Thursday 14 March 2024
  • Finalists will be announced on Wednesday 27 March 2024
  • Winners will be announced:
    • Awards Ceremony: Tuesday 23 April 2024
    • Published Online: Wednesday 24 April 2024
Voting Criteria
  1. A vote for a business will only be accepted if the business operates within the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters boundaries. View map.
  2. Subsidiaries and franchises are eligible, but must be nominated as the local entity, for example, ”Travel Associates Norwood Place”, “V2 FIT Kent Town”
  3. Pop up businesses (i.e. businesses which are not intended to permanently operate from their premises) are not eligible.
  4. To be nominated for the Hall of Fame category businesses must have been operating within the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters for a minimum of 20 years and are eligible until inducted.
  5. All types of businesses are eligible for nomination in the Best Customer Experience category.
  6. To be nominated for the Best Independent Small Business category, businesses must be an independent, small business (one that employs fewer than 20 people) with its own unique identity, typically family owned and operated.
  7. Businesses can be nominated in all relevant categories and can win up to 2 categories.
  8. Nominations can be lodged by business owners, employees and the general public.

Category Definitions

Best Cafe/Restaurant

No specific criteria, except that the business be generally considered to fall within the general description of the category.

Best Customer Experience

No specific criteria, except that the business be generally considered to fall within the general description of the category. All types of businesses are eligible for voting.

Best Fashion Retailer

No specific criteria, except that the business be generally considered to fall within the general description of the category.

Best Independent Small Business

Businesses must be an independent, small business (one that employs fewer than 20 people) with its own unique identity, typically family owned and operated.

Best Arts & Culture/Entertainment Experience

Includes creative and cultural spaces, art and design studios, galleries, movie complex, bowling and other similar entertainment venues. 

Best Coffee

No specific criteria, except that the business be generally considered to fall within the general description of the category.

Best Pub/Bar

This category can include function centres, hotels, outdoor venues, but it is not limited to these types of venues.

Best Food/Beverage Manufacturer

Any business growing or producing their own food and/or beverages on their premises.

Best Hair/Beauty Salon

This can include hairdressers, beauty services, but it is not limited to these types of businesses.

Best Professional Service

This category can include architects, engineers, lawyers, scientific researchers and accountants, but is not limited to these types of professions.

Hall of Fame

Any business that has been in continuous operation in the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters for a minimum of 20 years, unless previously inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Legend

A business will be acknowledged as a ‘Legend’ if they are successful in winning any abovementioned category three (3) times (does not have to be consecutively). This category will not receive public votes as it will be a determination made by the judging panel (i.e. once category winners are selected, if it will be the third time for a business, they will also be recognised as a Legend at the Award night).
