Solstice Media is proud to celebrate regional success with the Regional Showcase program in its 21st year.
This year it will be much more than a celebration of our country communities.
This year we will be reporting on and from the regions to not only ensure these important stories are told but also ensure that vital regional journalism isn’t further diminished by the stark commercial realities facing all of us.
Each week we will bring our readers regional news stories that matter as well as some inspirational tales of individuals and communities doing what country people do best – having a go.
We will compile these stories and then later in the year and we will celebrate the best of South Australia’s regions at a special showcase event.
Solstice Media connects our valued regions to the rest of South Australia through sharing the stories across all of our mastheads, including InDaily, CityMag, SALIFE and The Lead South Australia.
To ensure there is an even spread across the state, the regions counted as part of the program follow the Local Government Association of South Australia boundaries. View the boundaries map here.
We’ll take your suggestions and feed them to our journalists and then share them across our mastheads and with regional media.
In August, we’ll compile all the stories within specific award categories – including the Most Popular story based on reader votes.
We’ll be asking the public to vote on the top story through Solstice Media’s digital and print channels. We’ll also be asking program stakeholders to vote on various community and business awards.
Ag Town of the Year Award
An independent judging panel will select the ‘Ag Town of the Year’ recipient based on submissions from South Australia’s rural communities. The winning town will be announced at the Regional Showcase event.
Showcasing & Celebrating the Best
All regional stories will be shared across all of Solstice Media’s mastheads – InDaily, CityMag, SALIFE and The Lead – and the winners announced at a celebration evening in the Spring of 2020.
Ag Town of the Year Award
An independent judging panel will determine five finalists to be profiled through the Regional Showcase format of storytelling. The independent judging panel will select the ‘Ag Town of the Year’ based on how the finalist stories have facilitated the growth of primary industries and drive of regional development.
People’s Choice Award
The public will be able to vote online for their favourite yarn once all the stories have been compiled later in the year. This will determine the winner of the People’s Choice Award for the state.
Exciting new categories to be announced!
