About

Solstice Media is a unique South Australian-based national company working on innovative Australian publishing projects.

Backed by a group of South Australian investors in 2004, Solstice Media first produced a weekly newspaper, The Independent Weekly. In 2010 this morphed into the award-winning daily digital news service, InDaily, which is the company’s flagship publication.

Solstice Media has built a reputation for developing start-up digital media products specifically designed to engage with a target audience. To achieve this the company takes content very seriously and produces the highest standard of independent news and information, delivered through the most innovative platforms.

With a team of over 100 staff operating over three offices, Solstice Media has become recognised for its pioneering work on digital news projects. These include: The New Daily, which is a national daily news service produced from Melbourne by Solstice Media’s subsidiary company, Motion Publishing to an audience of over two million subscribers. InQueensland and The Weekend Edition are publications serving the Queensland market with breaking news, business, political and lifestyle journalism.

In 2018, Solstice Media acquired South Australian magazine SALIFE; a monthly magazine as well as related publications SALIFE Gardens & Outdoor Living, SALIFE Food+Wine+Travel and SALIFE Homes & Interiors, and CityMag; the voice of the city and its youth, showcasing the city’s transformation.

Solstice Media also runs a successful events program including The South Australian Business Index, 40 Under 40 in South Australia and Queensland, Regional Showcase and The SALIFE Absolute Best Awards to put a spotlight on achievement and inspiration.

In February 2021 InDaily launched InReview, SA’s new home for arts journalism and criticism. InReview is a ground-breaking arts and culture venture for South Australia, supported by the Judith Nielson Institute, The Helpmann Academy, Ulrike Klein AO and a number of individual philanthropists who support independent arts reviews and journalism.

In April 2023 Solstice Media launched an innovative new project, The Post, in partnership with the Government of South Australia. The Post informs young South Australians about the policies and issues affecting their lives and exists as a multi-platform media brand that distributes its content via Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube and its podcast, Hot Topics.
