The design of the exhibition Frida & Diego: Love & Revolution reflects the passion of the artists and their love and their beliefs, as encapsulated by their artwork.
With no Australian gallery owning works by either Frida Kahlo or Diego Rivera, this momentous exhibition offered Australian audiences access for the first time to such a comprehensive collection of paintings, photographs, clothing and illustrations by Frida, Diego and other Mexican modernists.
The hugely popular exhibition saw visitation exceeding forecasts with more than one million dollars in tickets sales. A testament to Frida’s enduring legacy and the inspired curation and exhibition design, the AGSA exclusive exhibition appealed to a broad range of the community, engaging audiences outside regular Gallery visitors and drawing interstate and international visitation. The diverse program of events including tours, late openings, seminars, workshops, family and youth events and public art, engaging the public with Adelaide’s vibrant arts scene.
