NOMINATIONS CLOSE AUGUST 21

As the situation with the COVID-19 outbreak continues to evolve we have postponed the awards celebration planned for June 19 but have not cancelled the important project to celebrate South Australia’s leaders.

Leadership and entrepreneurial thinking is more important than ever in these uncertain times. That’s why Solstice Media will continue to find and celebrate all that is great in South Australia, including our outstanding people under the age of 40.

We can guarantee that the event, in its original form, will go ahead at a later date and we look forward to celebrating South Australia’s finest young leaders.

We will then commence the judging (thankfully technology lets us do this remotely) and celebrate the winners at the most appropriate time in the future – when it’s safe and we are all ready for another tremendous party.

Eligibility Criteria

The 40 Under 40 Awards are open to South Australian based business owners and executives/ professionals who are under the age of 40 as at 1 July 2020
We’re looking for outstanding business and community leaders and entrepreneurs whose achievements are creating a significant impact across South Australia
Previous year nominees are encouraged to again nominate, subject to the above criteria

Assessment

An assessment panel representing the South Australian business community will judge the nominees against a selection criteria based on their impact within a business, industry or community and how they push the boundaries to go above and beyond the norm
All entries will be submitted to an assessment panel, who will meet on several occasions to discuss the scoring process.

- Why should you be selected as a finalist in the 40 Under 40 Awards?
- What are your most significant and important business/ career achievements?
- What are you going to achieve in the next few years? *

Detail your achievements and why you or others consider them significant and important. Provide evidence to substantiate your arguments. Judges need to know what you have accomplished to date, what risks have been taken. Judges are also looking for evidence that you will go on to accomplish even greater things, so explain your trajectory.

Question 2: BUSINESS SUCCESS FACTORS & INDIVIDUAL RECOGNITION
- What do you consider ultimately determined your success?
- What recognition have you received at an individual or organisational level?
- Detail any industry recognition, peer recognition, honours, awards etc. *

Demonstrate how your direct actions were instrumental in achieving this outcome. Detail the factors that you consider had the most impact on achieving your success and why you consider them so. How did you work with the team, lead the team or motivate yourself, to get through the tough times? What does success mean to you?

Question 3: SET-BACKS
- What were your biggest business/ career set-backs or challenges?
- Explain how you dealt with them and what lessons you consider were learnt from the experience(s) *

Detail the adversities, risks or challenges you recognised, and highlight the entrepreneurial and innovative actions you took to overcome them. Judges want to hear about the difficult periods, and how you responded. What did you learn, and how has it made you a better leader?

Question 4: COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION
- Detail any community involvement, whether for the good of one or more people, or the entire community
- How have your professional endeavours positively contributed to South Australia? *

Judges are looking for how you have already left your mark on your local community, and how you plan to grow this in the future. Involvement can be past or present, giving back to the community can be through the day to day work you do, or it might be in addition to your normal day job. Judges are looking for a well-rounded leader. Explain how the work you are doing is making a difference to our state, and your plans to make an ongoing, or bigger contribution in the future.
